What I was handed

Konfidal helps German companies with compliance and cyber security, from whistleblowing to phishing training. Its founders gave me the content in German and one rule for it: the eight services are grouped by the problem they solve. This was the third version of their site.

What I was brought in for

To wireframe and design every page, and then to build the site myself in Framer.

Earlier versions of the site lost detail between design and code, so this one went from wireframes to design to the live build in one pair of hands.

This version began with a demo: a Konfidal page I made in Framer on my own and showed to the founders, who then ordered the whole site. I wireframed seven pages in grey, from the home page to the services, before any colour or photograph went in. The design uses my Konfidal design system. The copy was in German, which I do not read, so I translated it before laying it out. The logo is mine too, from 2022, when the company took the name Konfidal.

Then I built the site myself in Framer, with desktop, tablet and mobile layouts, a blog and a contact flow. It is live at konfidal.eu.

01

Every page was a grey wireframe before it was a design.

The HinSchG page went from my wireframe to its design. The wireframe lays the page out in grey with the founders’ copy; the design rebuilds it from the design system’s components. Between the two, the header changed: its menus became the two groups of services.

02

The services are grouped by the problem they solve.

The home page sets out the two groups the founders asked for: compliance with the law, and protection against attacks. Each group is a list of services beside a photograph, with one service open at a time. The header’s menus follow the same two groups.

03

Six service pages, one set of sections.

The service pages started from one template and then grew apart. What holds them together is the design system’s sections. Every page opens on the same first screen and closes with frequently asked questions and an invitation to get in touch. In between, each takes the sections it needs, in its own order. When a section improved, it improved on every page that used it.

04

The main service, one page from the law to the answer.

Konfidal’s main service is a reporting channel for whistleblowers. Germany’s whistleblower protection law, the HinSchG, has required every company with 50 or more employees to have one since July 2023. The service’s page takes a visitor from what the law requires, through why a secure channel matters and what Konfidal adds, to how a report is handled. That last part is four steps, ending with the answer to the whistleblower, which the law requires within three months. The channel itself is the Konfidal app, whose interface I designed in 2022.

“He is fast, precise, creative and simply pragmatic. No matter what problem I came to him with, he always had a solution ready or knew how to get me to my goal, even if he couldn’t help me with his expertise.”
